- To empower youths through informative sessions & activities 
- To change the perception of mensuration (Menstruation is not a taboo)

Program Details 

Project Name: 3rd & 4th Peer Education Training Seminar on Reproductive Health & Hygiene 

Program Dates: 

3rd for Girls: 5th & 6th Nov, 2019

4th for Boys: 12th Nov, 2019

Organizer & Sponsor: BISS Foundation & RP Foundation 

Co-organizers: Rotaract Club of Bhaktapur & Nepal Mega College 

Trainers from: Dhulikhel Hospital 

Venue: Hotel Sweet Home Bhaktapur 

Program Duration: 3 days (2 days for 3rd – 1 day for 4th) 

Targeted people: 12-16 years old boys & girls

                                        Medha Secondary School

About program

Reproductive health implies that people are able to have a responsible, satisfying and safer reproductive life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so. Peer Education Training Seminar on Reproductive Health & hygiene is a training program to aware young people about the safe and sound reproductive health & hygiene. Young people are trained by experts through various session, activities, games and demos. We also try to change the perception of menstruation. We teach young people to not take mensuration as a taboo. We had 25 young girls in 3rd seminar and 25 young boys in 4th Seminar from 4 different schools. 

The objectives of these seminars are: 

- To make youths aware of Reproductive Health & Hygiene 

- To develop the skill of being a facilitator with proper Knowledge 

- To make youths open and wise about their health status, etc. 

- To empower youths through informative sessions & activities 

- To change the perception of mensuration (Menstruation is not a taboo) 

 

The sessions that are conducted throughout the seminars are: 

- Introduction on Reproductive Health & Hygiene

- Menstrual Hygiene and its perception 

- Family Planning & Contraception 

- Teenage/ Unintended pregnancy 

- STIs

- Understanding Gender  

Conclusion: 

The seminars were well organized and the students learned and enjoyed throughout the seminars. The doctors & nurses from Dhulikhel Hospital were very experienced ones. Before the seminar the students were not much educated and aware about the reproductive health & hygiene and after the seminar we conducted feedback session and now the students are aware about it with the knowledge of proper use of contraceptive devices, family planning method and also to keep menstrual hygiene.
